We actively recognise the importance of bringing Jesus into the lives of the children in our parish and surrounding areas. We have several regular activities for our children and young families and all the dates for these activities are to the right.

Messy Church

Messy Church is aimed at pre-school, infants and juniors and is a fun event designed for parents and children to take part in together. The Messy Church program is a fast growing ministry, which originated in the UK, that engages and builds relationships with thousands of people outside the usual church context.

We hold our Messy Church sessions in Potterne Village Hall, every two months on a Friday, straight after school.  We start off with several craft activities, followed by a short informal Bible story and song, then finish with a cooked meal.

If you would like to become involved, please contact Fiona Walker (see the Church team page)

Open The Book (OTB)

Two teams of volunteers from our parish present a programme of themed and dramatised Bible stories to the children at our local primary school.  The school (Five Lanes Primary School) is split over two sites, with key stage 1 in Potterne and key stage 2 in Worton.  The OTB teams go into both school sites on a Monday morning to present their Bible story during school assembly.

The teams use drama, mime, props, costume - even the children and staff themselves - to present Bible stories in ways that are lively, engaging, informative ... and great fun for everyone involved!  If you would like to become involved, please contact Keith Thorman (see the Church team page)
